Paulo Avelino "Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa" Opens Nationwide on October 26
“Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa”, the 2011 Cinemalaya Film Festival Best Cinematography and Best Music awardee will be released in major theaters starting October 26 by Regal Entertainment.
The movie which stars Paulo Avelino, Rocco Nacino and Jean Gracia is rated PG-13 by the MTRCB, and Graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).
Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa - Synopsis:
Doing poorly in class, Marlon (Paulo Avelino) plans to impress his literature teacher, Karen (Jean Garcia), who moonlights as a dance teacher and choreographer. He hires his fellow classmate Dennis (Rocco Nacino), who also happens to be Karen’s dance assistant, to give him private lessons without her knowledge. Through their lessons the two young men grow closer, but Dennis begins to have feelings for Marlon that go beyond friendship that Marlon does not reciprocate.
Soon their friendship is strained and Marlon cannot fathom why. When both young men are cast to play leads in Karen’s dance adaptation of the Ilonggo epic Humadapnon, it is through dance that Marlon can finally express what he cannot say in words to Dennis.
Beautiful and moving, Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa (The Dance of Two Left Feet), elegantly features poems from Filipino feminists that are intertwined with the dances highlighted in the film. As he learns how his body should move, Marlon begins to grasp the connection between poetry and dance. He begins to understand how the poems are testaments to Karen’s choice to live the life of an artist.
