Moammar Gaddafi's family reportedly will sue NATO (5 PHOTOS)



The family of deceased Libyan dictator Moammar Gaddafi reportedly plans to file a war-crimes complaint against NATO for the role they believe the international military alliance played in the former leader’s death, a lawyer for the family told Agence France-Presse news service.

Marcel Ceccaldi, a French lawyer who previously worked for Gaddafi's regime and now represents his family, told AFP on Wednesday that the complaint would be filed with the International Criminal Court in the  Hague because the family believes a NATO strike on Gaddafi’s convoy led directly to his death.

The body of MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli has arrived back in Italy following Sunday's fatal accident in the Malaysian Grand Prix.


Simoncelli's father Paolo and fellow rider Valentino Rossi were aboard the flight that arrived at Rome's Leonardo Da Vinci airport on Tuesday.

MISRATA, Libya — Moammar Gadhafi was buried early Tuesday morning in an unmarked grave in a modest Islamic ceremony, closing the book on his nearly 42-year rule of Libya and the eight-month civil war to oust him.
A Gadhafi nephew read a prayer for the dead before Gadhafi’s body — along with those of his son Muatassim and former defense minister Abu Bakr Younis — were handed over for burial, said Ibrahim Beitalmal, a spokesman for the military council in the port city of Misrata.

Motorsport was today mourning its second death in the space of a week after Italian Marco Simoncelli was killed in a crash at the Malaysian Moto GP.The Gresini Honda rider lost control of his bike on the second lap of the circuit in Sepang and appeared to be hit by Colin Edwards and then Valentino Rossi as he slid across the track.


The 24-year-old's helmet came off in the collision and he was taken to the medical centre for treatment, but died from his injuries.

Saudi Arabian crown prince dies at New York hospital


(CNN) -- Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud died at a New York hospital, kingdom officials said Saturday.

No other details about his death were immediately available, but arrangements are under way to transport his body back to Saudi Arabia, officials said.

An ex-rebel fighter named Mohammed, "a young fighter in his 20s wearing a blue t-shirt and a New York Yankees baseball cap," told the BBC he found Qaddafi hiding in the tiny drain pipe. The colonel allegedly looked up and said simply: "Please don't shoot."

DIYARBAKIR, Turkey, Oct 20 — Turkey has launched air and ground assaults on Kurdish militants in Iraq, vowing to exact “great revenge” after 24 Turkish soldiers were killed yesterday in one of the deadliest Kurdish attacks in years.
Turkish officials said about 100 fighters from the PKK, or the Kurdistan Workers Party, mounted simultaneous attacks under cover of darkness on seven remote army outposts in Hakkari province, on Turkey’s rugged southeastern border with Iraq.
